CPC (Cost Per Click) or PPC (Pay or Price per Click) is a pricing model commonly used by Advertising Networks and Sponsored Search Engines. Advertising Networks that offer CPC pricing allow advertisers to bid and pay on a cost per click basis. The revenue generated from these clicks is split between the advertising network and ad publisher. The cost of each click is sometimes a flat rate but most often determined by a bidding structure where more competitive keywords, niches, and demographics will be priced higher then less competitive ones, as there are usually more advertisers bidding on them and increasing the price.
